Dr Alasdair Parker

My current role

I have a great interest in the epilepsies, ketogenic diet therapy, tuberous sclerosis, microcephaly, movement disorders and efficient investigation of children with neurogenetic disorders.

I hold an associate lectureship at the University of Cambridge, leading the training of undergraduates, junior and senior doctors.

My research interests include the epilepsies, genomic disorders and quality of life.

I have greatly benefited from the support of children, families and patient organisations who I collaborate with closely in Cambridge, East Anglia, across the UK and abroad.

Previous history

Personal interests

I enjoy skiing, windsurfing, cycling and any active sport! But most importantly being a dad and husband.

I previously developed and led the East of England Paediatric Neuroscience Service between 2003 and 2012 and then between 2017 and 2020. I founded the Eastern Region Paediatric Epilepsy Network.

I have launched and led video-telemetry, movement disorder, neuromuscular, acute brain injury, ketogenic diet, vagal nerve stimulation and neuro-immunology services.

I was inaugural chair of the BPNA education committee and national training advisor in paediatric neurology between 2013 and 17.
