Dr Matthew Wallis

My current role

Clinically I provide diagnostic and interventional imaging to the new patient and follow-up breast clinic.

My main research interests are about optimisation of all stages of the breast cancer pathway, from mammographic image production and display, to trials to investigate limiting the side effects of current treatment of lower risk disease.

I have used this to identify and optimise good clinical practice and contribute to the evidence base to set standards for all areas of breast care.

Previous history

I joined Cambridge University Hospitals in November 2007 from Coventry where I was Director of the Warwickshire Solihull and Coventry Breast Screening Service for 19 years.

I was actively involved in quality assurance in the breast screening programme as West Midlands QA radiologist, the Association of Breast Surgeons audit group and the national evaluation group.

I still regularly assist Public Health England- Screening reviewing working practice and quality assurance. I have had a long-standing interest in European Imaging and was President of the European Society of Breast Imaging from 2010 to 2012.
