My current role
I am the joint head of the neuropsychology department; a small team of up to 15 psychologists that specialise in cognition across inpatients and outpatients. We receive referrals from neurologists, neurosurgeons and specialist nurses with primary questions about a patient’s cognitive functioning.
We work with patients with a range of neurological disorders including young onset Alzheimer’s disease, rare dementias, epilepsy, stroke, traumatic brain injury, sports concussion, multiple sclerosis, encephalitis, motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s disease and many other neurological disorders.
We help inform diagnostic opinions, see patients for neuropsychological rehabilitation and support patients and families to adjust to difficult diagnoses. We also support staff through teaching and training.
Previous history
I obtained my doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of East Anglia in 2002. After qualifying I initially worked in old age mental health across Cambridgeshire whilst studying for a diploma in neuropsychology.
I moved to Addenbrooke's hospital in 2009 to work in paediatrics, initially in the cleft, lip and palate service and the disorders of sexual development service, and later becoming the lead for paediatric cardiology and general paediatrics. I joined the neuropsychology department in 2020.
