Chaplain

Mariam Badat - She wears round glasses and a light brown hijab

My current role

I visit and support patients and staff from across the hospital and from all backgrounds as my current role as a chaplain. This involves supporting patients and staff with any pastoral and spiritual needs and provision of their religious needs. I am also able to offer Muslim faith-specific support to all at CUH.

Previous history

I completed my training in Islamic law and theology in 2014, followed by a contextual diploma at the Cambridge Muslim College in 2018.

Most recently, I have completed an MA in Islamic studies from SOAS (University of London). Throughout this, I have served to offer pastoral and spiritual support to the communities I have resided in.

Personal interests

I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cooking and reading. Sometimes, I may be found watching cat videos on YouTube.
