Staff governor

Staff Governor

Current role

I was delighted to be elected as a Staff Governor in July 2024 for my first three-year term, to represent the staff in this capacity. I firmly believe that every category of staff is the cornerstone of Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH).

In my Governor role, I am committed to ensuring that staff ideas and insights are communicated effectively to the boards to contribute to the decision-making process.

My approachability, availability, active listening skills, strong communication abilities, and extensive knowledge of CUH policies and procedures enable me to effectively advocate for staff interests.

Currently, I work as a Physician's Assistant in the Pathology Department at CUH and have been in this role since 2022. I am honoured to serve this Trust in this capacity and one day, I hope to pursue higher education to become an Operational Departmental Practitioner (ODP).

Previous history

My vocation in the medical fraternity began in 1991 in my home country, Trinidad and Tobago, and continued here in England at The West Suffolk NHS Hospital.

During COVID-19, I was responsible for ensuring that patients with appointments had their blood tests and swabs done. These were extremely large clinics.

Personal interests

Apart from my duties at CUH, I love meeting people and enjoy soccer, cricket, singing, badminton, weightlifting, and practicing healthy living. I also enjoy cooking, baking, and board games, with Scrabble being at the top of my list.

I am married to a wonderful woman who is employed at CUH as a nurse/midwife. We have two grown sons. We all enjoy travelling and share an interest in helping improve the lives of others.

In addition, I am the Director of God's Closet, a non-profit organisation with chapters all over the United States, Canada, and Australia, and now here in Haverhill, England. We collect gently used clothing and shoes for children aged 0-17, then organise shopping days for families to shop for free.
