My current role

I lead a neurobiology research laboratory at the department of clinical neurosciences, University of Cambridge. My team addresses how human nerve cell (neuron) networks are regulated in the brain and spinal cord and how this is disturbed in Motor Neuron Disease (MND). This work may help inform treatment options for MND and other neurodegenerative diseases associated with dementia.

In my role as a consultant neurologist I run a general neurology clinic, where I see a broad spectrum of neurological cases.

Previous history

I trained in clinical neurology at the Cambridge University Hospitals, Norwich and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (Queen Square, London) following postdoctoral training in neurobiology at the University of Cambridge and doctoral (PhD) studies in neuroscience in Glasgow and Cambridge.
