Dr Christof Kastner

Consultant urologist and Clinical director for Outpatients

I am one of the internationally leading experts in assessment and treatment of benign and cancerous prostatic disease.
Dr Christof Kastner

My current role

As a urologist, I am a member of the Prostate Cancer team.

I am the Clinical director of Outpatients and responsible for the safe and clinically efficient delivery of our outpatient service.

Previous history

I have been a consultant urologist based in Cambridge since 2009 and have lead the prostate cancer team between 2014 and 2020 during which time we, as a team, transformed the service to an entirely MRI-based assessment with major improvement of detection rates, patient benefits as well as public health implications. I believe in an integration of experts from all specialties around the patient's needs.

I have collaborated with the University of Rome as professor of urology on teaching of students, training of residents and clinical research.

Having formed an international collaboration between my colleagues in Cambridge and other centres in Europe and Australia, I have been senior author of multiple publications, which have changed the approach to prostate cancer assessment using MRI and Fusion biopsies.
