CUH named in The Top 100 Employers for School Leavers

08 June 2017
CUH ranked seventh best organisation to work for in the public sector at the School Leaver Awards.

The School Leaver Awards celebrates excellence throughout the UK and awards are given to organisations for their achievements in developing school leavers into the workplace. For the third year running, Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) is the only NHS Trust to be named in the top 100 employers.

The School Leaver Award ranking is based entirely on the opinions of apprentices, school leavers and trainees. Apprentices at CUH completed surveys relating to their employer and training programmes, from skills development, career progression and training to company culture.

CUH's work opportunities team facilitates the entry level apprenticeships. Kate Greenwood, work opportunities manager, commented: “We are really pleased to be named in the awards again, especially as the scores are based on the opinions of our staff. It is great timing to raise our profile as a top apprenticeship employer at the same time as the launch of the Apprenticeship Levy.”

The Apprenticeship Levy has been launched in 2017 and has enabled CUH the opportunity to increase the quality and quantity of apprenticeship training to develop and progress our workforce. Many more subjects and qualifications will now be available as apprenticeships from level 2 to level 7 (masters degree). These are available for new employees as well as existing staff.
