CCTU became a member of NCRI Cancer CTU Group

Congratulations to the CCTU-Cancer Theme: The CCTU’s application to the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) to become a member of the NCRI Cancer CTU Group has been accepted. The NCRI invited applications from UKCRC-registered CTUs to join its NCRI Cancer CTU Group. Condition is that applicants have a substantial portfolio of cancer clinical trials.

The NCRI has been supporting collaboration between Cancer CTUs through its accreditation scheme introduced in 2003. This process has been managed by the NIHR Cancer Research Network (NCRN) on NCRI’s behalf. With the changes in the NIHR networks, it was now timely for the CTU group management to move back to the NCRI, who is now also recognising the substantial peer review built into the UKCRC CTU network registration process.

The NCRI CTU group’s purpose remains unchanged – to bring together leading cancer CTUs to contribute at a national level to the advancement of cancer clinical trials. There will be a launch meeting early 2015 to discuss how the new group incorporating members from the UKCRC CTU network will work in future.
