About the ward:

The Addenbrooke’s Discharge Unit (ADU) on ward J3 is a place for you to stay on your last day in hospital, while we make the final preparations for you to be safely discharged home.

There are comfortable chairs, beds for patients who need them, hot meals and snacks, a television, books, and magazines.

Your doctor will come to the discharge unit to review your care and treatment before you go home. The nursing team will arrange any outstanding medicines that you’ve been prescribed.

If hospital transport has been arranged, the team will collect you from the discharge unit.

Finding us:

Ward J3 ADU can be found on level 3 of the main hospital.

From the main hospital entrance: Turn right as you enter through the revolving door at the hospital main entrance, turn left and walk past the hairdresser, across the corridor and past ward D2 (on your right). Take the corridor in front of you, signposted F and G wards. Continue until you reach a T junction. Turn right and follow the corridor until you reach the lift/stairs on the right hand side. Take the lift/stairs to level 3. Turn left and J3 is in front of you.

If you are visiting a patient who is likely to be hospitalised for two weeks or more, you can get a discounted parking ticket from the main reception. This allows you to exit from the car parks for 14 consecutive days from the day you validate the ticket.
