After your appointment, your clinical team will decide whether you need further care, tests or monitoring.
If you need to be seen again, you may be offered a follow-up appointment.
Follow-up appointments
At your appointment, you may be seen by the consultant responsible for your care or by a member of the consultant's team.
If they decide that you need to be seen again, you will be asked to book another appointment with the receptionist.
Patient Initiated Follow-up (PIFU)
Some clinical services offer Patient Initiated Follow-up (PIFU) appointments.
PIFU can be used in a number of different situations and may reduce the need for routine follow-up appointments.
Instead of attending regular appointments, you can contact the service when you feel there is a clinical need to be reviewed.
If PIFU is suitable for you, your clinician will explain how it works and what you need to do if your symptoms change.
Am I eligible for PIFU?
Not all patients or services are suitable for Patient Initiated Follow-up.
If you would like to know more about PIFU, or whether you may be eligible, please speak to your clinician.
