Parking Information

Cambridge University Hospitals has 2 main car parks for patients and visitors.

  • Car park 1 - 750 patient and visitors spaces including 63 disabled spaces
  • Car park 2 - 600 patient and visitors space including 63 disabled spaces

Parking spaces may be limited during peak times. We encourage you to use public transport, taxi, walk or cycle if possible.

Please allow enough time to park and make your way to your appointment.

There is a free onsite courtesy bus running every 10 minutes from car park 1 & 2 which drops and collects from all of the main entrances.

All car parks are barrier operated on the entrances and exits.

Parking is ‘Pay on Foot’. Pay on foot means you pay when you are ready to leave, not in advance, you pay for the actual time parked.

All patients are entitled to discount parking with discounts available for long term / regular visitors. For full details on parking discounts please see the parking costs and discounts page.

Payment can be made by credit card, notes or coins before you exit the car park. The pay stations are located on the ground floor in both car parks 1& 2 in the lift and stair lobbies.  

Height restriction of 2.1 meters apply in both car parks 1 & 2. Please speak to staff in the car park for alternative parking if your vehicle exceeds this height

Where to park

For Outpatients appointments clinics 1-19: please park in car park 1

Emergency Department: 5 reserved 30 minute dropping and collecting bays outside of the emergency department, then park in car park 1

Addenbrooke's Treatment Centre (ATC) clinics 30 to 33 and Day Surgery: please park in car park 2

Rosie Hospital and clinic 20-24: please park in car park 2

Blue badge holders: Designated spaces are found across the campus and within car parks 1 & 2

Visitors parking in either car park 1 or 2

Short stay parking

For dropping off, collecting or waiting 30 minute short stay spaces are available outside the following entrances

  • Outpatients
  • Main hospital entrance
  • Addenbrooke's Treatment Centre (ATC)
  • Rosie Hospital
  • Lay-by outside the Cambridge Eye Unit
  • Emergency Department

Parking in theses bays will be monitored and parking charge notices will apply to any vehicle exceeding the waiting time  

Illegal parking

Cambridge University Hospitals is a very busy site, and we cannot risk roads being blocked by illegally parked cars. The following parking rules apply:

  • No parking on double yellow lines or yellow cross-hatched areas
  • No parking on the grass
  • Any vehicle parked on the Addenbrookes site that causes a potential obstruction for emergency vehicles, will be physically moved and issued with a Parking Charge Notice (PCN)
  • Only disabled badge permit holders clearly displaying the blue badge permit and time clock are allowed to park in Disabled parking spaces on the Addenbrooke's site
  • All vehicles must be parked within the marked bays only
  • On-site parking is restricted to 24 hours
  • These rules apply 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • The owner of any vehicle that causes physical damage to property on the Addenbrooke's site will be liable for the full cost of repair/reinstatement of the damaged property
  • Disabled permit holders parking within barrier-controlled Trust car parks are liable to standard car park fees
  • Anyone who parks their vehicle in breach of the published rules is liable to be issued with a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) without warning. The current Parking Charge Notice is £30 in the first instance if paid within 7 days
