Joanna Rowley
Lead Breast Nurse

I have worked in the CBU since 2001 and was appointed as Lead Nurse in 2012. Following training and assessment in history taking, breast and axillary examination I gained the necessary competencies to develop a new role, as an independent clinical nurse practitioner. In this role I ensure that clinical practice in breast care reflects valid current research. This role requires the ability not only to care for, but to diagnose and treat complex conditions with the ability to formulate clinical decisions based on clinical judgement.  I have undertaken an autonomous research project for my MSc. I contribute to ongoing research projects and have undertaken several audits .I have represented Clinical Nurse Practitioner’s at the Association of Breast Surgeons and have lectured at both regional, national and international conferences.
