Addenbrooke's services

The department provides ophthalmology services for the city of Cambridge and a large area surrounding it. It also runs consultant-led outreach clinics in both Ely and Saffron Walden.

Patients needing specialised treatment come from a wide area. All the sub-specialities of ophthalmology are covered, including:

Retinal surgery, Medical ophthalmology, Diabetic eye disease, Glaucoma, Orbital, plastic and lacrimal surgery, Neuro-ophthalmology, Paediatric ophthalmology, Genetic clinic, Orthoptic and electrodiagnostic service.

Cambridge researchers develop new coronavirus test for frontline NHS workers at Addenbrooke’s

A new test for infection with SARS-CoV2 that which inactivates the virus at the point of sampling, has been developed by a team of researchers at the Cambridge Institute for Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease (CITIID).
