I have worked in the Rosie Outpatients department for 15 years and my job involves taking blood from a variety of women. The majority of people are in their first stages of pregnancy and the ladies are coming to have their routine bloods. We run blood test clinics for patients who are coming in for a variety of different clinics. Each day is different. I also go to the wards to see ladies who have had their babies and take a routine blood count from the new mums.

I support the doctors and nursing staff and occasionally the research team. If there are any projects running which require blood testing I will be there to take the bloods.

I find that when a patient is coming in for a blood test they are sometimes very nervous and anxious. I like to reassure the patients and spend time with them, to give them the confidence that this isn’t the worse thing in the world.
