The paediatric immunology clinic offers a clinical and laboratory diagnostic service for patients with frequent severe, unusual or unresolved infections or clinical features suggestive of immune deficiency.
We provide nurse-led home care training for patients requiring immunoglobulin replacement therapy. We work closely with other paediatric disciplines including respiratory, gastroenterology, rheumatology and haematology and support the regional 22q11 deletion service. We are networked within the region to Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, providing shared care dictated by patient needs.

Monday afternoon between the hours of 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm
Joint Respiratory-Immunology Clinics
4-6 times a year on a Monday afternoon between the hours of 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm
22q11 MDT clinic
Quarterly on the 5th Monday of the Month between the hours of 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm
Immunoglobulin home care training and immunoglobulin infusions are coordinated on ward F3.
When a patient reaches 16 years, they transition to the Young Person’s Clinical Immunology Clinic at Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (opens in a new tab) or the CUH Adult Immunology Clinic.
Referral information
Referral to the Immunology Clinic is via your GP or local paediatrician.
GP referrals for patients with warning signs of immune deficiency may be seen in the Frequent Infection Paediatric Clinic for first-line assessment and screening for immune deficiency and then, depending on the outcome of this assessment it may be managed within this service or referred on to the paediatric immunology clinic if needed.
Paediatrician referral for patients with warning signs of immune deficiency will be seen in the Paediatric Immunology Clinic.
If there is a strong family history of an inherited immune deficiency, GP referral is accepted directly to the Paediatric Immunology Clinic
Please note: Allergy referrals go directly to the Paediatric Allergy Clinic.
