The liver transplant coordinator team at Addenbrooke’s Hospital provide specialist care, support and advice for patients being assessed for liver transplant and for those who have received a liver transplant.

With a combined experience of over 60 years in hepatology nursing, liver transplantation and organ donation, the team comprises of three recipient coordinators and a live liver donor coordinator. The recipient coordinators role is to support patients with end stage liver disease from assessment through to a transplant, and also coordinate life long follow up. 

As a national centre of excellence for liver transplantation, the team at Addenbrooke’s attend outreach clinics at the following hospitals, and accept referrals for liver transplant from these and other hospitals within East Anglia:

  • Peterborough & Stamford Hospitals
  • Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital
  • The Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust
  • University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust
  • Nottingham University Hospital QMC
  • Luton & Dunstable University Hospital
  • Lister Hospital, Stevenage

When a patient is referred for a multiple organ transplant (including a liver) the liver transplant coordinator team also work in close collaboration with the other abdominal transplant teams at Addenbrooke’s and with the cardiothoracic transplant team at Papworth Hospital.
