DigiVis

DigiVis is a web-based app developed by the paediatric ophthalmology team at Addenbrooke’s, led by Dr Louise Allen.

The app allows adults and children to test their own vision accurately in the comfort of their own home, helping to detect conditions early and ensuring patients don't miss eye test screenings due to disruptions such as the Covid crisis.

At CUH we work tirelessly to make our patients' lives better and deliver care in the most effective way possible.

00:00:16 - 00:00:24

Our innovative app - DigiVis has been developed to allow adults and children to test their own vision accurately at home.

00:00:26 - 00:00:35

Led by Paediatric ophthalmologist, Dr Louise Allen, it's very similar to the eye test we do in clinic, with the benefit of patients not having to travel on site.

00:00:38 - 00:00:47

We have pioneered a new approach for schoolchildren in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough who missed eye test screening during the Covid restrictions.

00:00:49 - 00:00:52

It's a simple process to get set-up.

00:00:54 - 00:01:01

You need two digital devices such as a smartphone and laptop, as well as a few household items to calibrate the system.

00:01:03 - 00:01:06

Such as a tape measure or ruler and a standard sized business / store card.

00:01:08 - 00:01:14

It does not prevent a condition, but allows a condition to be detected early.

00:01:16 - 00:01:26

Using digital technology has allowed us to reach those children whose screening has been disrupted by the Covid crisis, to ensure that they don't miss out.
