The Radiology Day Unit (RDU) has nine beds and one chair, and will accept patients undergoing image guidance day case procedures referred from all specialties within the Trust, as well as from other areas if there is capacity.
The RDU is open from Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 20:00hrs on an appointment-based system.
The RDU has several areas (2x four-bedded units, a side room with one bed, and a separate area with a chair) complying with Same Sex Accommodation guidance.
This is a nurse-led RDU service provided by Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants under the supervision of a Modern Matron. We provide care for patients before and after their procedures. We aim to discharge all of our patients by 19.30hrs when they are given clear instructions about their post procedure care and what to do in case they become unwell at home.
The discharge summary is given to the patient and a copy is also sent to their GP practice.
