The Community Paediatric Respiratory Rapid Response Team (CPRRT) is a team of specialist respiratory physiotherapists who support children and young people (0–19 years) across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area who have complex neurodisabilities or long-term respiratory needs. Our aim is to help keep your child well at home, reduce GP visits and hospital admissions, and help you feel confident in managing your child’s respiratory care.
What do we do?
We support your child by providing early respiratory assessments and ongoing physiotherapy support when your child becomes unwell with a respiratory illness at home.
We work close with your child’s wider team, including medical teams, schools, community nurses and hospice staff, to ensure joined-up care.
Support with hospital care, including supporting a safe and coordinated hospital admission if needed, and helping with early discharge when medically appropriate.
We support training for parents, carers and school staff, so that everyone involved in your child’s care feels confident managing their respiratory needs at home, in school, or during respite care.
Who can use the service?
This service is for children and young people who:
- Are 0–19 years old (until leaving full-time education).
- Are registered with a Cambridgeshire or Peterborough GP.
- Have a respiratory impairment due to:
- A primary lung condition (excluding cystic fibrosis or asthma).
- A complex neurodisability or neuromuscular condition.
Referrals can be made by any healthcare professional involved in your child’s care.
