The Rosie expansion

08 May 2013
The Rosie aims to be an internationally recognised centre that offers a seamless service for women and babies from our local community, the East of England and the UK – from conception to delivery and postnatal care
  • The Rosie is a women’s hospital and the regional centre of excellence for maternity care. It has recently undergone a multi-million pound extension to meet the needs of the region’s growing population.
  • The ‘new’ Rosie and provides high-quality care for women and their families, including more bed spaces for women in labour, more cots and specialist equipment for premature or low birthweight babies. It will include the biggest neonatal unit in the country with 58 cots. Changes to regional neonatal care means the Trust is expecting to see more babies with more complications, requiring specialist care and facilities.
  • The newly expanded hospital is fully integrated with the existing Rosie Hospital and will help to ensure the Trust can deliver high-quality care in modern facilities that meet the needs of women and their families, providing greater patient choice and further improving patient care and safety.
  • The Rosie is part of Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH), one of the largest and best-known trusts in the country. CUH is a leading national centre for specialist treatment, a government-designated comprehensive biomedical research centre, one of only five academic health science centres in the UK and a university teaching hospital with a worldwide reputation.
