Clinical Engineering

Clinical Engineering is responsible for the management of all medical devices used within CUH and is comprised of several teams.

The main work of Clinical Engineering involves managing the lifecycle of devices, from procurement, evaluation, technical support right through to decommissioning. All of which adds value to a cost effective solution that ensures appropriate medical devices are available to meet clinical need.

Clinical Engineering also offers support for the governance, risk management, evaluation, design and manufacture of all kinds of medical technologies.

Clinical Engineering Innovation

We are a team of engineers and technicians who specialise in the development of new and novel technologies and translation of research into clinical practice. We have expertise in a range of engineering disciplines, as well as in regulatory compliance and technical diligence. You can find out more about our projects here. Our aim is to identify new, unmet clinical needs and translate these into innovative medical technologies and processes to benefit patients, staff and the wider health economy. Our in house engineering design team has experience across engineering disciplines and detailed knowledge of the regulatory requirements and funding applications to allow innovative products and ideas to be bought into patient care.
