Mr Agrawal is currently the only formally trained Consultant OncoPlastic Breast Surgeon in Cambridge (OncoPlastic Surgery combines the science of Oncology with the art of Surgery). Following graduation in 1996 (University of Calcutta), he underwent extensive surgical training culminating in Breast-only Oncoplastic experience in leading centres such as Nottingham, Paris and Brussels. Additionally, he completed laboratory-based research in Breast Cancer at the universities of Nottingham, Cardiff and Sheffield with 75+ publications and presentations. Within a short span, he introduced the following.

Advanced OncoPlastic Breast Preserving Surgical techniques reconstructive Surgery service (previously only by plastic surgery colleagues)

Breast Surgery Audit mechanisms and meetings and currently spearheading regularisation of "Patient Reported Outcomes Measures (PROMS)", a measure of ensuring highest possible quality of surgery as reported by women themselves.

New Oncoplastic and Reconstructive techniques introduced:

Therapeutic Mammoplasty - cancer lumpectomy with Breast Reduction
Therapeutic Mastopexy - cancer lumpectomy with Breast Lift LiCAP / LTAP /TDAP flaps - partial breast reconstruction with fat-only flap based on chest wall small blood vessels following large lumpectomy, thus maintaining breast shape and avoiding mastectomy in many cases. He is one of the few breast/plastic surgeons in the UK performing this surgery.
Goldilocks Breast Reconstruction - full breast reconstruction using patient's own breast skin without the need for major implant, back flap or abdominal tissue surgery. 
Pre-Pectoral Breast Reconstruction - full breast reconstruction with implant and ADM (Acellular Dermal Matrix i.e. animal derived mesh) placed in front of the chest wall muscle allowing simpler reconstruction with minimal pain and faster recovery.

New Oncoplastic and Reconstructive techniques pre-existing in Addenbrookes but introduced in the Breast Unit include:

Lipomodelling / Fat grafting - liposuction from abdominal wall or thighs and grafting into unavoidable lumpectomy defects or defects that develop after radiotherapy.
Breast Reconstruction - full breast reconstruction with implant and ADM (Acellular Dermal Matrix -  animal derived mesh) and is adept in LD (back muscle) flap

He gained DM (Doctor of Medicine) degree (University of Nottingham) following laboratory-based research in Breast Cancer in collaboration with the Universities of Cardiff and Sheffield.
