Cancer division : Radiotherapy treatment for Jersey Patient

Flights and travel from the airport

You will have been contacted to arrange flights for your treatment. When your flight arrives at London City airport a taxi will be waiting for you in arrivals. You will then be brought directly to the radiotherapy department at Addenbrooke’s where you should report to the radiotherapy reception.

Accommodation

Accommodation for the duration of your radiotherapy treatment will be either at Kingston House or Signet apartments

Signet apartments

Accommodation will be at Signet apartments which is a 10 minute drive from the radiotherapy department. On your first day a taxi will be arranged to take you from the radiotherapy department to the apartments.

WiFi access is available throughout the hotel, further information and any costs can be found on the Signet apartments Website.

A Signet apartments representative will meet you on arrival at your apartment to show you around, hand over your keys and answer any questions you may have.

Kingston house

Kingston house is a self- contained flat which is based on the Addenbrooke’s Campus. This flat has two twin bedded en-suite rooms with a full kitchen including a washing machine. Each room has a TV and a telephone which accepts incoming calls only. Wi-Fi is available in the lounge area. Charges will apply for this service.

The flat will be serviced weekly including change of bed linen and towels. Bins will be emptied on a daily basis.

Parking is available on site in a multi-storey car-park. There is a charge for using this facility.

Mail can be sent to Kingston house. The full mailing address can be given to you on request. Any mail delivered after your departure date will be returned to sender.

Children and pets are not permitted in Kingston house.

Meals

Kingston house and Signet apartments are self-catering.

Your treatment

Daily treatment

If you are staying at Signet apartments, radiotherapy reception staff will contact Panther Taxi on 01223 715715 each Friday to book the following weeks taxi’s to coincide with your treatment times in Radiotherapy.

If you have any specific questions about treatment you will be able to discuss them on your first day of treatment with your treatment team. Treatment will be Monday to Friday and will last for approximately four weeks, please refer to your treatment schedule for specific times and dates.

The radiotherapy department s opens between 8:00 and 18:30 Monday to Friday.

Reviews

During your course of radiotherapy you will usually have a number of clinic appointments with a doctor or advanced practice radiographer to see how you are getting on and sort out any problems you may be experiencing. Any follow up arrangements will also be discussed. In addition, the radiographers will be happy to discuss any concerns on a daily basis.

In case of Medical Issues – whilst on treatment

If you have a medical issue whilst receiving treatment please discuss this with your treatment team in the first instance, if however you are unwell outside of the radiotherapy hours you should attend your nearest accident and emergency department.
