We welcome visits from parents and loved ones and aim to make this experience as reassuring as possible. On this page, you’ll find details about our visiting policy, how to get to the unit, parking nearby and the steps we take to reduce infection risks.
Visiting Policy
We understand how important it is for you to be with your baby, and we want you to feel as involved as possible. You are a key part of the care team, and your presence makes a difference. While parents are always welcome on the ward, our visiting policy covers how friends and family can visit safely.
Infection Control
We follow a strict hand hygiene policy. Please help us to protect your baby by following the rules below.
To reduce the risk of infection, please:
- Remove any outdoor clothing prior to entering the clinical areas. There are lockers avilable in reception for your use.
- Wash your hands thoroughly prior to entering the unit and on entering the room where your baby is being cared for.
- If you or your visitors are unwell, please call the unit and speak with the nurse caring for your baby.
How to wash your hands
Washing your hands is one of the easiest ways to protect yourself and others from illnesses such as food poisoning and viruses such as flu and coronavirus (COVID-19).
Watch this video for a quick demonstration on how to wash your hands.

Parking for NICU families
We have two main car parks for our patients and visitors, as well as a number of disabled bays.
One free parking ticket is available for each family, with a baby in our Neonatal Unit, per day. To arrange your free parking:
- Take the regular parking ticket as you enter the car park and bring this with you to the NICU. We will stamp the ticket so you are eligible for free parking.
- Take the stamped ticket to the car park customer service desk, located on level 1 in both car parks, for the ticket to be validated.
- You will need to repeat this process each time you use the car park.
