Multiple-system atrophy (MSA)

Consultant neurologist Dr Wendy Phillips runs a regular clinic for patients with multiple system atrophy (MSA), which is a rare and progressive neurological disorder affecting adults.

Caused by degeneration of nerve cells in several areas of the brain, MSA can lead to problems with movement, balance, blood pressure and bladder control.

The condition affects everyone differently and progresses at different rates, with symptoms varying from patient to patient. At the clinic, our team will carry out a full assessment before developing a treatment plan to help each individual manage and relieve their symptoms. This could include medication and advice about lifestyle adaptations which may help.
