Professor Sir Stephen O’Rahilly FRS is Head of the University Department of Clinical Biochemistry and Director of the Institute of Metabolic Science, Metabolic Research Laboratories at the University of Cambridge. He has been an honorary consultant physician at Addenbrooke's hospital since 1994. He has been researching and providing clinical care to patients with syndromes of severe insulin resistance since coming to Cambridge from Harvard University in 1991. He was the major driving force behind the creation of the Institute of Metabolic Science, now one of Europe’s largest institutes for research and clinical care in metabolic disease.
