My name is Sian Goodwin and I am a breast care specialist nurse within the CUH breast unit.
How long have you worked at CUH?
I started at CUH as a student nurse in 1989 and worked for several years after qualifying. I then worked in London as a nurse specialist before returning to CUH 16 years ago. I have worked in the breast unit for 11 years.
What part of your work are you particularly proud of or find rewarding?
The thing I feel most proud about is being able to make what can be a life changing, difficult situation better for patients.
I also find it really rewarding to make people laugh (or at least smile) during these challenging times.
How does your team make a difference for patients or families?
My team and I ensure we are always kind, available and easy to get hold of!
What is something you’d like people to understand about your role?
I would like people to be more aware of how extensive the knowledge and training is to be breast care nurses.
What’s one thing you enjoy outside of work?
One thing I really enjoy when I am not working is running with my dog.
