I have a renal nursing background and was a research nurse in Peritoneal Dialysis for 17 years. I completed my BSc Hons in Health and Social studies in 2007. I then moved to autoimmune research and with this experience I developed a new Lupus Nurse Specialist role at Addenbrookes in 2011. I was chair of the National Lupus Nurse Network Group for over 5 years.
In 2024 I was given the opportunity to focus on developing and facilitating the Cambridge Vasculitis and Research Nurse Training Course which aims to support UK nurses in developing their role as a vasculitis nurse specialist.
I was awarded a “You made a difference Award” in December 2013 by the Trust for explaining all aspects of care with patients in a professional manner.

I completed the ENB Research Course on 2001: Level 3 – Understanding Research and its application to health care and ordinary certificate in statistics in 1995 at Homerton College of Health Studies, Education centre, Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
Registered General Nurse in 1989 at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff and came to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in 1990 to undertake the E.N.B 136 Post Basic Renal Course.
Aspirations
To develop an educational programme specifically for nurses interested in developing their knowledge and service within vasculitis.
To help create a suitable educational environment so staff are given appropriate learning opportunities where the team is encouraged to apply theory to practice and to develop nursing research project within vasculitis.
