Ward D8 - Trauma and orthopaedics

Caring for patients who require surgery or treatment for conditions relating orthopaedics or trauma

Visiting times

11:00 to 20:00 with strict exception of protected meal times (12:00-14:00 and 17:00-19:00).

Children under 16 may only visit with permission from the nurse-in-charge.

Due to infection control, cut flowers are not permitted.

About the ward: 

Level 8 has two wards for adult patients who have had trauma (eg accidents) or who are are having elective (planned) orthopaedic surgery. There are 36 inpatient beds on Ward D8 and 37 on Ward C8. You might be moved from one part of a ward to another depending on your needs and those of other patients.

Finding us: 

Ward D8 can be found on level 8 of the hospital.

From the main hospital entrance: through the main entrance turn right and head towards the concourse and then turn left. Walk past the hairdressers. You will see sign posts for C and D wards. Take the lift to level 8. When you exit the lift turn left, then right and D8 will be in front of you.

For security, there is an intercom at the ward door.

If you are likely to be hospitalised for two weeks or more, your visitors can get a discounted parking ticket from the main reception. This allows you to exit from the car parks for 14 consecutive days from the day you validate the ticket.
