Gov.pay Prescription payment request

Patient information A-Z

Dear Patient,

Please find enclosed your medicines prescribed at your recent appointment.

If you usually pay for your medicines prescribed please could we kindly ask you to log onto the gov.pay (opens in a new tab) website to pay for your dispensed medication, see instructions ‘How to pay for your prescription’.

If you are in any of the following groups you do not need to make a payment.

  • Hold a pre-payment certificate
  • Hold a MedEx (medical exemption) certificate.
  • Hold a maternity exemption certificate.

Currently receiving any of the following:

  • Income support
  • Income based jobseeker’s allowance
  • Income related employment and support allowance
  • Pension credit guarantee credit
  • Universal credit
  • Valid NHS tax credit exemption certificate
  • Valid NHS certificate for full help with health costs.

How to pay for your prescription charge.

  • Access the gov.pay website (opens in a new tab) and follow the instructions entering in the details below.
  • When prompted for invoice number please enter code (123456- number to be confirmed).
  • When prompted for the amount to pay please follow below to calculate the total cost.
  • You have been dispensed ……….Prescription items which equals ………… Prescription charges.
  • Each prescription item is currently £9.35.

If you have any queries relating to your prescription charge request please email outpatientprescriptioncharges.nhs.net – we can only respond to prescription charge queries and will not be able to respond to any queries relating to the medication you have been prescribed/dispensed or your visit to the hospital please contact your Dr for this.

We are smoke-free
