The genomics laboratory offers cytogenetic (chromosome) and molecular genetic (DNA) analysis.
Genetic and genomic testing services in England have been reorganised into seven NHS Genomic Laboratory Hubs as part of the national NHS Genomic Medicine Service. This service aims to improve healthcare outcomes through the integration of genomic technology into routine patient care.
Cambridge University Hospitals Genomic Laboratory is the lead organisation for the East Midlands and East of England Genomic Laboratory Hub. We work together with Nottingham University Hospitals and University Hospitals of Leicester to deliver high quality genomic testing for all patients with rare disease and cancer across the East.
We are currently transitioning to provision of the national genomic test directories for rare disease and cancer. Please continue to order routine tests as per your current practice during this transition period and see our website for updates.
The Laboratory is accredited by The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to the recognised international standard ISO 15189:2012 Medical laboratories - Requirements for quality and competence (Ref: 8840). Please find the scope of our accreditation.
The Laboratory participates in relevant external quality assessments (EQA) provided by GenQA (formerly UKNEQAS for Molecular Genetics and CEQAS) and EMQN.
