I was elected as a patient governor in July 2016, was re-elected in 2019 and hope to stand for my third and final 3-year term in 2022.
My main interests are improving verbal and non-verbal communication between medical staff and patients.
My passion is to improve the patient experience throughout their attendance at the hospital – whether as inpatient, outpatient or visitor. This not only encompasses engaging with staff, but also providing comprehensive signage both within the hospital and the ever-expanding campus. And as a member of both the Patient Experience Committee and the Feeding & Nutrition Committee, I want to ensure that inpatients are made aware of the diversity of menus available to cater for all dietary needs.
A further area of interest/concern for me is providing patients and visitors with mobility issues to have easy means of transport for accessing not only the main hospital venues, but also all other venues on the site, obviously including the anticipated new-build units.
I am currently a regular outpatient and a representative for Breast Cancer Research Trials, a proof-reader for new leaflets mainly regarding cancer treatments, and a member of the CPPG both as patient and patient governor.
