In October 2023, the Cancer Directorate was awarded an HTA Licence.
The Human Tissue Authority regulates the removal, storage, use, and disposal of human tissue. This includes several activities relating to human tissue, such as research, anatomical examination, or organ transplantation.
The licence authorises the following activities to be carried on at CUH:
- the procurement, testing, processing, distribution, and export of tissues and/or cells intended for human application
- the storage of tissues and/or cells intended for human application
