Lateral
Our team is experienced in all approaches to the lateral skull base, allowing for the most appropriate approach to be chosen for each patient. The vast majority of all lateral skull base operations are for the removal of vestibular schwannomas. All surgery is performed jointly by skull base ENT and neurosurgeons, with plastic surgery colleagues involved where reconstruction is needed for cancer surgery. Members of the skull base team also attend the head and neck cancer and brain multidisciplinary meetings to ensure that the optimum treatment plan is formed for each patient.
Anterior
Our team is experienced in both endoscopic and open approaches to the anterior skull base, allowing for the most appropriate approach to be chosen for each patient. All surgery is performed jointly by skull base ENT and neurosurgeons, with plastic surgery colleagues involved where reconstruction is needed. Members of the skull base team also attend the head and neck cancer and brain multidisciplinary meetings to ensure that the optimum treatment plan is formed for each patient.
