Patient story - John Wood

John Wood's patient story

What led you to attend our hospitals and your journey?

I was admitted after sustaining an open fracture to my tibia and fibula.

Your hobbies/occupations/passions and how they were affected by your hospital visits/condition

I am normally a painting and decorating company director and am now unable to continue my day to day activities.

I am unlikely to be able to return to my previous functional levels for up to 18 months as a result of my injuries.

How the treatment you've received has helped you get back to your life?

Treatment is currently ongoing but I am looking forward to being able to get out of the hospital and continue my rehabilitation at home.

The physios have been fantastic in giving me daily exercises and helping me transfer out of bed.

They have also progressed me to being able to use a walking frame which has aided my independence and allowed me the freedom to do more activities.
