March's You Made a Difference team award goes to the Emergency Department reception team.
There are roughly 20 emergency department (ED) receptionists who cover a rota of 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our ED receptionists are often one of the first members of CUH staff a patient attending ED sees, so they are the face of CUH.
This nomination was written prior to the Covid pandemic, but it’s worth highlighting how the team has adapted more recently due to the pandemic and the many challenges they have faced and dealt with. They have taken all this in their stride without complaint.

The emergency department reception team are often the unsung heroes of the emergency department. Over recent years the team has taken on more and more responsibilities and their adaptable and flexible approach has led to us altering many parts of the emergency service pathways. They work so hard for this department in the background and they consistently go above and beyond for our patients.
