Our latest You Made a Difference award goes to Kat Hymers, Employee Relations Manager, whose professionalism, empathy and dedication have made a lasting impact on both colleagues and the wider Trust.
Kat joined the Employee Relations team in January 2019 as an Employee Relations Adviser, having previously worked in HR at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG. In April 2022, she was promoted to her current role of Employee Relations Manager. In this role, Kat provides invaluable professional support and advice to both managers and staff, navigating the complexities of employment law with skill and sensitivity.
Kat’s colleagues describe her as thorough, compassionate and highly professional, always striving for the best outcomes for the Trust, its staff, and ultimately, for patients. She has also played a key role in mentoring junior members of the team, sharing her knowledge and helping to develop their careers.
Most recently, Kat has been instrumental in supporting the introduction of the Trust’s new HR case management system – work that will deliver greater efficiency and lasting benefits for staff across CUH.

She immediately reduced my stress levels and helped me feel supported, making a significant positive impact on my mental health at a time when I felt very alone.
