Hospitals lift some Covid visiting restrictions

Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals are today reducing some of the visiting restrictions introduced in response to the Covid pandemic.

The Trust says it feels safe to do so following a cautious approach to infection control and prevention over the last two years.

Mask wearing remains strictly compulsory and visitors should not attend if they have Covid-19 symptoms, or have tested positive for Covid-19 within 10 days.

Addenbrooke’s will allow two visitors at a time for patients in its adult inpatient and critical care wards between 11pm and 8pm, with the exception of meal times. These visits do not have to be booked in advance.

The hospital will support two parents/carers and one child at the bedside in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Two adult visitors and one sibling will be allowed at the bedside in children’s services inpatient areas (one resident carer and one visitor with sibling) between 8am and 7pm.

In the Rosie maternity hospital visiting has returned to pre-pandemic restrictions, except where patients are Covid-19 positive, or were in household isolation because of contact with someone who has the infection. One named birthing partner may attend throughout admission.

Additional visiting may be allowed on compassionate grounds, this will be discussed and arranged directly with wards.

We are delighted to be able to reduce some of these restrictions, which we know will be welcomed by patients and visitors and our own staff.

“We would like to thank people for their understanding over the last two years and remind them that it still compulsory to wear a mask. These are available at every hospital entrance.”
