Global Health Partnerships Impact Awards

Cambridge Global Health Partnerships (CGHP) hosted its flagship Impact Celebration and Awards on Thursday, bringing together healthcare professionals, academics and global health advocates.

CGHP is a charitable organisation that facilitates equitable and collaborative health partnerships between institutions in Cambridge and the East of England and global south countries. By connecting people and institutions around the world and supporting two-way learning and exchange, CGHP aims to strengthen healthcare systems and address some of the biggest global health challenges of our time.

This year’s event recognised the incredible contributions of East of England based NHS staff and international partners working to improve health outcomes through reciprocal learning and shared expertise. Held at AstraZeneca’s Discovery Centre on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, the evening welcomed a great turnout, including Roland Sinker (Chief Executive, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust), Dame Mary Archer (Co- Chair, Cambridge Children’s Hospital and President of CGHP), and Fiona Smith-Laittan, VP Global Health Strategy and Partnerships at GlaxoSmithKline and CGHP Chair.

The event also welcomed distinguished keynote speakers including Professor Sassy Molyneux from the University of Oxford, underlining national recognition of the global health partnerships and projects supported by CGHP.

Sponsored by Costello Medical, the evening featured presentations by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust staff covering topics from providing healthcare to refugees in Jordan, to improving access to hearing care in Malawi, to sharing expertise in HIV care between Zimbabwe and the UK. It celebrated Cambridge and the East of England’s continued role as a national leader in supporting and promoting global learning, and showed how the health partnership model used by CGHP empowers staff to share knowledge, develop expertise, and co-create sustainable solutions with colleagues around the world.

These partnerships exemplify the power of two-way learning, and the contributions we’re celebrating tonight benefit healthcare workers and their patients far beyond national borders.

The evening culminated in the presentation of the CGHP Awards 2025—a chance to acknowledge the individuals and teams making a significant contribution to improving healthcare globally. Presented by CGHP Chair and VP Global Health Strategy and Partnerships at GSK, Fiona Smith-Laittan, we commend our 2025 award winners.
