Blood test centre is still open

Patients are reminded that there are no drop-in blood testing facilities at Addenbrooke’s Treatment Centre (ATC) in Cambridge.

Instead patients should continue to use the drive-through testing facility at Newmarket Road park and ride, which was set up at the start of the pandemic and has become popular because of its speed and convenience.

Still open - the drop-in blood testing station

The Newmarket Road service is available between 9.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Fridays, excluding bank holidays. Patients must be in a car rather than on foot cycling.

It is for anyone over the age of 16 and who has medical paperwork or a request for blood tests placed on the hospital computer system.

Hospital bosses say a number of people have come to the ATC for blood tests in the mistaken belief that operations in Newmarket Road have closed as Covid restrictions elsewhere ease.

Patients should only attend the hospital’s outpatient department for a blood test if they have an appointment.

More information is available at Outpatient phlebotomy / blood tests.
