Gastroenterology (My Planned Care)

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine that looks at diseases of the oesophagus (gullet), stomach, small and large intestines (bowel), liver, gallbladder and pancreas.

The team who will look after you consists of consultant medical doctors, clinical fellows, specialist doctors in gastroenterology that are in training, specialist nurses and dieticians. You may see just one or all of them depending on your condition.

Guidance for patients

Most patients will be waiting for an outpatient clinic appointment for diagnosis or management of a gastro-intestinal condition.

What should I do if my health is deteriorating?

If you are waiting for your first outpatient appointment, please speak to your GP who can contact us to review whether your appointment should be brought forward. If the change in your condition is very urgent your GP can contact the gastroenterology registrar or Consultant on call for advice.

If you are an existing patient, please contact your consultant’s secretary or your specialist nurse using the contact details below.
