Charles Greensitt - mechanical engineering technician

The clinical engineering innovation team develops novel medical devices to address unmet clinical needs. My primary role in the team is machining parts on lathes, mills, working with highly dextrous fine tools in the creation of prototypes and medical devices for use within CUH. I also conduct quality control checks on externally manufactured parts and contribute to design for manufacture of medical devices being developed by the team.

My role was the external lead and planning of overhaul of facilities for COVID safe workspace. The space itself is named the “Innovation Space”. My team worked on a variety of projects to maximise the availability of the necessary medical devices and PPE at CUH.

Hands on role with access to machines

Bringing back the old skills that are dying out… In the process of machining castings at home for a steam engine, sometimes described as a mixture of Da Vinci and Brunel.
