Join the Cambridge BioResource

Help the fight against conditions such as heart disease, dementia and diabetes by joining a pioneering research panel as a volunteer.

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Cambridge BioResource is a unique panel of volunteers both with and without health conditions, who are willing to be approached to participate in research studies investigating the links between genes, the environment, health and disease.

The last five years has seen the NIHR Cambridge BioResource grow into an invaluable resource. Through collaboration with the National Health Service Blood and Transplant Centre (NHSBT), the NIHR Cambridge BioResource now has over 17,000 members around Cambridgeshire on its volunteer panel.

Joining the NIHR Cambridge BioResource involves donating a small sample of blood or saliva which your DNA can be extracted. We also ask you to sign a consent form and complete a short questionnaire and data collection sheet.

Researchers recall volunteers based on their DNA (genotype) and by other factors including gender, age and lifestyle, (phenotype) matching them to appropriate research studies.

You can join today and participation is open to anyone over the age of 16. To find out more please contact cbr@bioresource.nihr.ac.uk, phone 0800 090 1212 or visit the link at the bottom of the page.
