Faith and Belief Community Event

Events

The chaplaincy team at Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) are hosting a Faith and Belief Community Event.

The event will take place here at CUH in the David Dunn Suite (by the main reception) on Saturday, 20th September, 2025. We’ll start at 10:00 and finish by 14:00.

Each year, some 58,000 people are admitted to CUH as inpatients and a further 860,000 attend appointments as outpatients. Each person brings with them a story – their story – frequently embodying complexity, anxiety and uncertainty, but, there is often also a community around them, offering support and encouragement. We recognise that the most sustaining and life-giving support for our patients comes from those who are already part of their everyday lives. Here in Chaplaincy, we see the care that we offer as supplemental to that which you and your communities extend. We also appreciate that you will have a particular understanding of your communities, their needs, and their experiences of care at CUH, that can help us shape better our work and practice here. We would like to listen to, and learn from, your insights and reflections, and very much welcome your input.

We will start our time together with coffee and pastries and an opportunity for you to peruse the stands and talk to representatives from various CUH and Biomedical Campus initiatives. We are also delighted that the day will include a presentation from our Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital Team. This will enable you to hear about, and contribute to, the future of this important project. I will be sharing information about developments within Chaplaincy, including plans to refurbish the Chapel space. I would value your expertise, input and especially your involvement as we move these plans forward. We will conclude the day with a complimentary lunch, an opportunity to meet members of various CUH teams, and to find out more about your specific areas of interest.

If you are able to join us, please reserve your place by emailing Lisa Saunders. Space will be limited due to the venue, so do, please, book early.

We look forward to welcoming you to CUH, to hearing your thoughts and ideas, and to working with you to shape the future.
