I’ve worked in neuro for over 13 years, and it’s great and a huge challenge – there’s always something new to learn
Practice development lead nurse

Neurosciences is a very specialised area with a lot to learn, and some often very challenging cases to deal with. As one of two practice development leads in the division, it’s my job to help new-starters, first through their transitional period and then as they work, with training and support on policies and best practice.

Due to the nature of the work we do, it’s very important that nurses starting with us have everything they need to work safely with patients, and that they know who to go to with any concerns. The training they receive with me is standardised at first, and then tailored to those who may need a bit more help.

I’ve worked in neuro for over 13 years, and it’s great – there’s always something new to learn. It’s a huge challenge, and some say that neuro nursing is like Marmite – you either love it, or hate it. Those who love it are usually here for a long time.

If you’re looking for somewhere with fantastic opportunities and a hard-working team, then neurosciences could be right for you.
