CUH Together – Our strategy

‘CUH Together, Our Strategy’ was launched in 2016, following engagement with our staff and external partners, with a five-year outlook to 2021. Our strategy provides a framework for making decisions about the future of our Trust and sets out our vision and priorities, which ultimately aims to deliver better care for our patients. Each year we review our strategy to make sure it is still relevant within the changing healthcare environment in which we are operating, and we refresh our priorities and strategic programmes to take account of the evolving challenges and opportunities we face, to make sure we’re still on track.

We have a shared vision to improve people’s quality of life through innovative and sustainable healthcare.  Across the whole of our strategy we are looking to improve the way we do things - by becoming more innovative, improving care for our patients, and developing more cost-effective ways of delivering services locally and regionally. Working together is a key theme across our strategy – the relationships we build across our organisation, with our partners across the wider healthcare system and how we deliver our vision in a way that is consistent with our values: safe, kind and excellent.

  • Improving patient journeys: we want our patients to have the best possible outcomes and experience, receiving care from the right teams at the right time;
  • Working with our communities: we will work closely with partners to ensure that organisational boundaries do not get in the way of providing better health and social care for our patients;
  • Strengthening the organisation: we will invest in our people, facilities, technology and equipment to help improve the care and services we provide and make sure this is a great place to work;
  • Contributing regionally, nationally and internationally: we will be a leader in the UK life sciences sector and bring together the latest advances in science and medicine through world-class research and education for the benefit of our patients.
