Teenage Cancer Trust unit - C9

Wards A-Z

Teenage cancer trust unit: a purple wall with a mounted TV screen with sofas facing it. A pool table to the right and a jukebox and table and chair to the left.

Ward C9 is staffed by a dedicated nursing and medical team, along with a range of other professionals who form part of the multidisciplinary team.

This includes dieticians, physiotherapists, Young Lives vs Cancer social workers and a Teenage Cancer Trust youth support coordinator.

Please take a moment to look at the staff board by the main entrance, where you will find the names of the people you are most likely to meet during your stay.

This state-of-the-art 8-bed inpatient unit, with an attached day unit, is the main treatment area for 16- to 24-year-olds with cancer in the East of England who are receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT). SACT refers to intravenous treatments such as chemotherapy, with or without targeted or immunotherapy medicines.

However, you may not require this type of treatment, or you may be receiving a treatment that cannot be given on Ward C9.

Visit our cancer treatments page to read more about different types of treatment.

We also care for young people aged 14 and 15 under children’s cancer services on the ward, if they choose to have treatment here.
