My current role
I provide care for adults to restore hand function, mobility and confidence after injuries, degenerative conditions or skin concerns. I lead the Ely Hand Clinic, which I established to provide local access to specialist hand surgery and hand clinic services for patients in Ely, East Cambridgeshire and the wider Cambridgeshire area, reducing travel and waiting times while maintaining high standards of care.
Across my practice, I manage around 1,600 clinic appointments each year and perform or supervise over 600 surgical procedures, including carpal tunnel releases, Dupuytren’s contracture surgeries and other advanced hand and skin procedures using the WALANT technique.
Previous history
I trained in plastic and reconstructive surgery in the UK and completed advanced fellowships in both hand surgery and skin surgery. I have treated a wide range of hand and wrist conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, Dupuytren’s contracture, arthritis and tendon injuries. I also provide advanced care for serious hand and upper limb trauma as part of the plastic and hand surgery team at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
In addition, I specialise in skin and soft tissue surgery, managing moles, cysts, lipomas, warts and skin cancers, including basal cell carcinoma and other malignant lesions.
I have been recognised for excellence in teaching, receiving the Cambridge University Clinical School Excellent Teaching Award, and my clinical expertise has been highlighted by national media outlets including the BBC and ITV.
Membership/accreditations
I am actively involved in surgical education and research, serving as a by-Fellow and Tutor at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge, and as a former Honorary Lecturer at University College London.
I am a member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and an approved tutor for the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) and the University of Manchester Diploma in Hand Surgery.
Personal interests
I am a pianist and keyboard principal for several orchestras. I enjoy spending time with my young family.
