My current role

I am an honorary infectious diseases physician and clinical microbiologist at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, an affiliated associate professor at the University of Cambridge, and a senior program officer in malaria/global health at the Gates Foundation.

I have a lifelong interest in global health and 30 years clinical research experience including malaria, TB, HIV, viral hepatitis, antimicrobial resistance, and COVID-19.

I have published three books and over 250 scientific research articles (h-index 91). I am passionate about medical education and training, and have led postgraduate education programmes in clinical medicine, microbiology, genomics, and antimicrobial resistance at the University of Cambridge and the Wellcome Sanger Institute.

I am highly committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to fostering equitable partnerships in global health.
